GID-WEB-001SHEET 5 · ABOUT — WHY GAUGE.ID EXISTSREV 2ca48122026-07-10

Part libraries outgrow
their governance.

The same geometry re-enters a library under a new number — rotated, mirrored, re-exported, renamed. Industry studies put the share of duplicated or obsolete part numbers as high as 60% Industry studiesA.

In aerospace, medical device, and automotive engineering, a part with two identities is not an inconvenience — it is a configuration-control defect. It splits inventory, forks revision history, and puts two records where an auditor expects one. Nobody plans for it. It accumulates: export by export, supplier by supplier, merger by merger.

Gauge.ID exists to answer one question the same way every time: is this geometry already in your library? The instrument computes a canonical identity per part — invariant to translation, rotation, and reflection — and issues every verdict under a declared policy, with a signed, replayable record. What cannot be certified is flagged for engineering review, never silently guessed.

It was built on first-principles mathematics by engineers with aerospace configuration-control backgrounds.

SECTION 02OPERATING PRINCIPLES — WHAT WE BELIEVEREV 2ca4812

Three commitments. Each one is testable in the deliverable — none asks you to take our word.

01 — DETERMINISM

Run it twice. The bytes match.

Same file, same policy, same result — on your hardware or ours. A result that cannot be reproduced is not evidence, and we do not ship it.

02 — DECLARED POLICY

Verdicts under rules you approve.

Every identity is certified under a versioned policy — the tolerance and equivalence rules you sign off — and the certificate names it. We never claim absolute uniqueness; the record states what was certified and under what.

03 — EVIDENCE

Records over assurances.

The deliverable is a signed, replayable record you can re-run and verify. Anything that cannot be certified is flagged for engineering review — a flagged part beats a silent guess.

Hosted evaluations run on cloud providers holding SOC 2 Type II attestations; GaugeID LLC has not yet completed its own SOC 2 audit — controls and roadmap available under NDA. For strict residency or export-control requirements, on-premise and air-gapped deployment keep geometry inside your network.

Judge us by the report, not this page.

A pilot audit runs a sample of your library under a declared policy and returns a signed, replayable report. Verify the determinism claim yourself: run it twice — the bytes match.
